Abstract

In his article the author interprets the structure of the Onegin stanza, its genetic components, the circumstances of its origin as well as attempts to use it made by Pushkin himself in other works or by his followers. All the poets who tried to use the Onegin stanza (including Pushkin himself in Ezerski) invariably suffered a defeat unless they modified either the formal parameters of the Onegin stanza or the content, stylistics and genre of the literary works in which it was emploed.
