| Abstrakt: | The article is a successive stage of research on the unprecedented event of the defence of the Cross by students of the Agricultural School Complex in Miętne n. Garwolin (Poland). The present analysis aims to demonstrate the theological dimension of the events, the students’ testimony of faith in their struggle for the presence of the Cross in the public sphere, and to indicate the attitude of the youth from Miętne as a source for contemporary catechesis. Based on a critical analysis of source materials from a catechetical-theological perspective, the research findings are presented in the four sections: (1) Testimony, (2) Faith, (3) Testimony of the Language of Faith, and (4) Conclusions, covering research findings and recommendations for catechetical practice. In terms of methodology, the study is inspired by J. Cardijn’s paradigm of “See – Judge – Act” |

for the Promotion of the New Evangelization (for the Directory for Catechesis), Équipe Européenne de Catéchèse, Eufres – European Forum for Religious Education in Schools, Associazione Scientifica per il Dialogo Interculturale ed Interreligioso, the Lublin Scientific Society, the Scientific Society of the Catholic University of Lublin, and the Francis de Sales Scientific Society. He serves as an expert for the evaluation of religious education programs and catechetical textbooks at the Commission of Catholic Education of the Conference of the Polish Episcopate. He has published 19 authored and edited books, including: The Study of Love, Courage and the Cross. 40th Anniversary of the Defence of the Cross at the Agricultural School Complex in Miętne, Kielce: Jedność 2024. He has published 17 catechisms, among others: Catechism according to Blessed Edmund Bojanowski, Dębica: Congregation of the Sisters Servants of the Blessed Virgin Mary Immaculate 2022; Catechisms for the Polish Catholic Mission in Germany, and catechisms used in Christian initiation in the Diocese of Siedlce. He is the author of 135 scholarly articles and 31 entries in encyclopedias and lexicons. Supervisor of 23 doctoral dissertations and 130 master’s theses. Principal investigator and researcher in projects funded by NCBiR and MNiSW, among others: On the Defence of the Cross in Miętne. He conducts research in the fields of catechetics and media education, pedagogy and special catechetics, adult catechesis, catechist formation, Catholic catechisms, and the teaching of Catholic and Orthodox religion in public schools in Europe and Poland. CHMIELEWSKI MIROSŁAW, Hab., PhD, assistant professor. Affiliation: Faculty of Theology, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. Professional experience: lectures on catechesis, catechetical didactics, andragogy, social media in the transmission of faith, interpersonal communication, the Church’s teaching on media, the image of the Church in the media, media education, public relations, interpersonal communication, media spirituality, and scientific research methodology. Research interests: pastoral theology, media theology, social media and AI, religious communication in digital culture, media education, catechetical didactics, adult education, pedagogical bibliography. Research on: methods of communicating faith in media culture, the place of media education in evangelization, the media image of the Church, drama methods in proclaiming the word of God (catechesis, religious education, preaching), social media in the Church’s mission, Church communication in crisis situations. Research interests: pastoral theology, media theology, media education, social media and AI, religious communication in digital culture, catechetical didactics, adult education. Professional experience: e.g. lectures in catechetics, foundations of didactics, didactics of catechesis, methodology of catechesis, special catechetics, organisation of catechesis in Poland, teacher education, and educational law.
