Czasopismo „Niwa” w dokumentach WUKPPiW w Białymstoku z lat 1956–1957

Abstract

This article draws on documents preserved in the Archives of Modern Records in Warsaw (from the collection of the Main Office for the Control of Press, Publications, and Performances) and the State Archives in Białystok (from the collection of the Provincial Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party, Propaganda Department). The author examines the origins and aspirations of the weekly Niwa, established by the Belarusian Socio-Cultural Association, which brought together people of Belarusian descent living in Poland. Based on an analysis of these primary sources, the study reconstructs how the ideological principles adopted by the editorial board were implemented and how the magazine’s objectives were pursued. It also explores the nature of Niwa’s relations with the Białystok branch of the Main Office for the Control of Press, Publications, and Performances.
