Czas i przestrzeń w geo(bio)graficznej epifanii twarzy

Abstract

The article reflects on the geo(bio)graphic experience inscribed upon the human face, understood not merely as an anatomical part of the body but also as a form of relationality between the human being and the world. Drawing on Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenology and Emmanuel Levinas’s philosophy of dialogue, the authors argue through various literary examples that the face often serves as a record of the individual’s relationship with the world, preserving traces left by events occurring within a specific time and space. The epiphany of the face thus invites its perception as a geo(bio)graphic text and opens the way for an analysis of the phenomenon referred to as the poetics of the face.
