The Role of Non-Governmental Organisations in Environmental Protection Cases in the Republic of Poland: A Case Study of the Białowieża Forest

Abstract

Goal – The purpose of this article is to examine what role non-governmental organisations play in the environmental issues occurring in the Republic of Poland. Research methodology – The used methods include: literature analysis, case law analysis, case study, and comparative analysis. Score/results – The article demonstrates that non-governmental organisations play a very important role in matters related to environmental protection occurring in the Republic of Poland, and that through their activities they are able to exert a real influence on the shape of the state’s environmental policy and on socially significant issues. Originality/value – The research undertaken in this article makes it possible to assess the role that non-governmental organisations play in matters related to environmental protection occurring in the Republic of Poland, and whether they can exert a real influence on the shape of the state’s environmental policy and on socially significant issues. This subject has not yet been subjected to an in-depth analysis.
