Refleksje o wolności. Człowiek wobec wyboru – między ciemnością a światłem / biernością a aktywnością („przewodnik” po poezji Wiktora Coja)

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to inform about the issue of the ambiguity of the concept of “freedom”, also to draw attention to the fact of the historical variability of the understanding of freedom, but, in the first place, to look at the treatment of the theme of freedom in the selected works by Viktor Tsoi, a prominent representative of the Russian rock poetry. Viktor Tsoi (1962–1990) was a poet, an actor and a musician, the charismatic leader of the cult rock band Kino, the true legend of the Russian rock, the author of songs that have become cult and timeless. It seems that the category of freedom of choice occupies a special place in Tsoi’s poetry – and therefore, I presented different perspectives in thinking about this issue in the introductory part of the paper. The focus of this article is placed on an analysis of selected Tsoi’s songs-poems, including: Перемен! [Changes!], Мама, мы все сошли с ума/Мама, мы все тяжело больны [Mom, we’ve all lost our minds/Mom, we are all seriously ill], Дальше действовать будем мы [We will continue to act], Последний герой [The Last Hero], Жизнь в стеклах [Live in Glasses], Бездельник-2 [Idler-2], Звезда по имени Солнце [A Star called the Sun], Легенда [The Legend], Мы хотим танцевать [We want to dance], Кукушка [Сuckoo Bird], Дождь для нас [Rain for us], Прогулка романтика [Walk of a Romantic], Стань птицей [Become a bird], Песня без слов [Song without words], Спокойная ночь [Peaceful night], Пачка сигарет [Pack of cigarettes], В наших глазах [In our eyes].
