Abstract

In the works of Andrei Fiedarenka, we can find a harmonious combination of the tradition of Belarusian realism and innovative trends. The aim of this article is to try to trace the evolution of the image of women in the stories he wrote in the 1990s and the first half of the 21st century. The author’s attention focuses on the images of the mother/grandmother, the temptress, the beloved, the teenager, and on determining the specifics of portraying female characters. The analysis proves that over time, Fiedarenka pays more and more attention to the images of women. At the same time, he departs from the traditional, typical portrayal of a heroine and tries to show the character of the modern woman, to talk about her flaws and imperfections.
