Abstract

This work presents the life and philosophical outlooks of Lady Anne Conway, a 17th eentury English thinker. The author portrays her fascinating personality and eventful life, but the primary intention here is to shed light on Conway's unique metaphysics. Her thought linked with Platonism could be an alternative to the other philosophieal systems of the age and it possibly has influeneed some, more commonly known, thinkers. So far nobody in Poland has written a distinet study on Conway's philosophy. Completing this first Polish monograph, the author wanted to deseribe her life and work in the most comprehensive way not avoiding own interpretations. Maybe they are going to be inspiring for readers. The book is composed of three main parts. The first chapter presents the biography and work of the philosopher. In the second the author concentrates on her metaphysics situating it in philosophical context. Finally, in the third part of this study, the problem of the convergenee between Leibniz's monadology and Conway's system is raised.
