Dylematy integracji dzieci czeczeńskich w kontekście sytuacji szkolnej

Abstract

At school the Chechen children encounter many adaptive, financial and psychological difficulties. Those problems make it hard for them to be a student and a school friend, which result in a high rate of non-attendance. The Chechen children attend a school only for a short period of time and, what is more, they attend a school irregularly, which is the reason why they los e the contact with their peers. In view of what has been mentioned, the communication between the Chechen children and the Polish children is restricted to mutual relations which do not resemble partnership. The research on the attitude of the young Poles to their peers of Chechen nationality conducted in the sixth grade in one of the elementary school in Bialystok shows that there are barriers (such as fe ar of experiencing physical aggression, evident aversion, etc.) that hinder mutual cognition and development of relations foundcd on understanding and respect. There is the need to take multidimensional actions in form of proper education or psychological support reinforcing the integration process. The problem of foreigners and refugees is a new phenomenon in Poland and for this reason there is lack of solutions facilitating integration. The schools have various altitudes towards the need for supporting the process of adjusting the Chechen Children to the new socio-cultural re ality. 'Ibere are some schools in which no effort is made in order to support the aforementioned process because of, for instance, the shortage of payments for the teachers and tutors for additional hours of work. It is also possible to find schools as well as student and non-governmental organizations that carry out the program which supports the process of integration.
