Abstract

The article A literary profile as a hybrid text (the case of Andrzej Kijowski's career) is about a writer who has lived his entire life in a socialist state, in the People's Republic of Poland. Drawing her methodological inspiration from different sources (Janusz Sławiński, Zdzisław Łapiński, and above all Umberto Eco and Hyden White), the perception of the writer's biography, especially its literary part, the author is dividing into three levels of research presentation: a chronicler's level, a story level that is the level of 'fictionalised' amplification of the facts provided by the chronicler, and the level on which 'the man and his art' lasts in public and literary awareness. Analysing Kijowski's career, she is deseribing two symbolically named strategies the writer adopted: a neophyte's strategy of the time of his debut (year 1950), and Daedalus' strategy adopted in the consequence of the events of 1968, associated with his decision to stay active in literary life.
