Eugeniusz Chlebcewicz oraz jego zainteresowania literaturą białoruską

Abstract

Eugeniusz Chlebcewicz is undoubtedly one of the outstanding representatives of the period in which he lived. The biographical sketches of Jan Barszczewski (1790–1851), Franciszak Bahuszewicz (1840–1900), Janka Kupala (1882–1942) and Ciotka (1876–1916) have a documentary value. Chlebcewicz’s works are often referred to by contemporary literary critics who carry out research on new Belarusian literature. His relations with representatives of the literary period named “Парнасу Нашанiўскай праы” are testimony to the enormous role of Chlebcewicz himself in the revival of the Belarusian movement at the beginning of the 20th century.
