Abstract

The study summarizes a wealth of scholarly information modeling different, often antagonistic, configurations of identity in relation to the poem Carmen de bisonte (Cracow, 1523), as well as its author Nicolaus Hussovianus. The methodological reference point is the notion of cultural capital, as well as the notion of the pragmatic setting of the text. Conclusions are made about the close connection between Nicolaus Hussovianus’s work to the traditions of the Northern Renaissance, which are embodied in the artistic texture of the poem.
