| Abstrakt: | The article discusses two translations of Adam Mickiewicz’s Pan Tadeusz into Georgian. A review is also made of other poetic works of Mickiewicz translated into Georgian and published in Georgia. The article points to the significance of Pan Tadeusz in both Polish and world literature. After a brief analysis of the poem itself is made, the article discusses some of the difficulties and features of the literary translation of a poetic work that must be taken into account by a translator of poetry. In conclusion, it is argued that the Georgian poets-translators Otar Chelidze and Dilar Ivardava coped with the difficult task perfectly, and Pan Tadeusz’s translations are very faithful to the original text. |

| Nota biograficzna: | Mziya Kostava – Doctor of Pedagogy of the Language Center of Kutaisi State University named after Akaki Tsereteli. Graduated from Kutaisi Pedagogical Institute (1981), specialty Russian language and literature; studied in Moscow, in graduate school of the Pedagogical Academy, defended her dissertation on the topic „Philological analysis of a literary text as a means of developing oral speech in high school students” (1990), received a candidate of pedagogical sciences, later the title of associate professor. Akaki Tsereteli University – at the Department of Slavic Literatures until 2010, since 2011 at the Language Center of the same university. She has participated in many international conferences – research fi eld, text analysis, literary translation. |
