Inspiracje muzyczne w cyklach lirycznych Władysława Sebyły

Abstract

The poetry by Władysław Sebyła often refers to music. His 'Egotic Concert' (1934) consists of four lyrical cycles inspired by three musical forms: sonata, noctume, concert, song. Sebyła's composition follows the pattern of a concert with egotism as a leitmotiv. The structure of particular cycles is determined by the features of the forms mentioned above. Two of the cycles ('The Mills. Inhuman Sonata' and 'The Eight Noctumes') exploit historic forms such as sonata allegro and nocturne whereas 'The Egotic Concert' and 'The Reflective Poem. The Simple Triple-song' follow the 20th century music. Such coexistence of old and new results in a double composition. The leitmotif is thus expressed by different means and references. Sebyła's using of musical structures and techniques is an attempt to tackle the problem of limitations of word as means of expression. Te poet also refers to the philosophy of Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Bergson and Freud.
