Abstract

The years of World War II we re a period of ceaseless changes of the eastern borders of Poland. Nationalities inhabiting this land once were a majority, but once a national minority. Byelorussians were used by the Soviet government for the construction of the socialist homeland. Ukrainians were ruthlessly persecuted for their national aspiration. Jews constituted a "substitute mino rity" used to the purpose of the realization of Soviet ethnic policy in the annexed land, where Byelorussians and Ukrainians were missing. The German occupation led to future deep divisions. The border between Poland, Belarus and Ukraine made after World War II divided in the artificial way the societies of the borderland.
