Abstract

The article is an analysis and interpretation of a drama Dzień świra (Day of the wacko) by Marek Koterski in the affective perspective. In this essay, the author proves that protagonist's behaviour is determined by disgust. In the introduction author refers to some of theoretical conceptions of disgust (e.g. Darwin, Kant, Menninghaus, Rozin, Haidt and McCauley). Subsequently, the author describes the character of disgust in Dzień świra. According to the author, disgust is the effect of narcissistic personality of protagonist, the routine and protagonist's non-fulfillment. The author also discusses the influence of protagonist's mother on the shaping protagonist's character and his tendency to disgust. In conclusions, the author notices the correlation between repressed problems and emotions with disgust. As it turns out, the protagonist is not ready to confront with his problems and gain self-knowledge.
