Abstrakt: The material referred to in the first part of the text, which I dealt with as An introduction to the final and abandoned “King-Spirit” years ago, allowed me to draw a cautious conclusion: although the attempts to transform the invocative formulas quoted here do not match the first octave of the song VIII of Beniowski in artistic terms, their diversity, persistent search for new expression combined with mastery and free handling of the existing lexical resources of traditional preliminary formulas by Słowacki resulted in a unique collection. In comparison with the comparative material collected by Kazimierz Wyka (“Pan Tadeusz”. Studia o tekście. Warsaw 1963), it can be said that this is the only collection in Polish literature, and probably the only one in the world! Putting on paper the subsequent variants of the beginnings of songs and rhapsodies, Słowacki constantly referred to this piece of the epic element, which was connected with the poetics of the epic. Concepts such as “main text”, “variant”, “abandoned view” were used here in an orderly sense, making it possible to identify in the set of texts that we received (after essentially irreversible editorial efforts) in the Collected Works edition. It was only, however, Marek Troszynski’s proposal (Słowacki. Poza kanonem, Gdańsk 2014) to treat Słowacki’s late works as hypertext that made it possible to state that in fact, apart from a few printed during the poet’s lifetime, there were practically no “definitive and abandoned introductions”, all of which were equivalent to the beginnings of an open work.
