Król-Duch jako figura dualizmu teologicznego Słowian

Abstract

The article explores Juliusz Słowacki’s King-Spirit from the ethnogenetic perspective. It discusses the influence of the folk vision of the world and people and its dual structure on the mystical Słowacki. It derives the Slavs’ theological dualism from Zoroastrian beliefs and shows their long life span in the legends on the creation of the world and people by the Devil and God. It proves that Słowacki, sensitive to existential and historical evil, took up a titanic effort of transforming the Iranian dualism of two strict and independent rules of good and evil into the dualism emanating the concept of the evil from the womb of the Only God. The author of the article proves that the effort to be the revaluation of the Slavic anti-world dualism into the Christian pro-world dualism. The condition of that transformation is the ability to view as benevolent matter and its traits as well as historical cataclysms. In the romantic palingenetic system, that ability depends on the devotion which is ready for pain, suffering and death. This is the price of defeating Slavic indolence towards the world of matter and the Slavic idleness in the idyllic mentality.
