Człowiek wobec starości: wątki bioetyczne i filozoficzne

Abstract

Modern medical technique, ethical dilemmas and the suffering of the human being – these are the unique topics considered within the framework of bioethics. It is the study of ethical problems arising during the crucial moments of human life: conception, birth, illness, aging, and death. Every human continuously encounters critical moments in their life, which they are unable to solve by themselves, thus demanding bioethics to face new challenges. Bioethics aims at setting boundaries for modern therapeutic techniques, mostly its impact on man’s health and the external appearance. It also covers the moral implications of pharmacologic treatment and the usage of various instruments sustaining and stimulating life. Thus, bioethics intends to form the boundaries of medical treatment. The above mentioned fields of bioethics prove the wide range of subjects comprising the framework of bioethics. In my work I will look closely at only one of the aspects of bioethics. I will only give attention to problems related to human ageing and the way this process creates challenges which science and the whole community are compelled to face.
