Abstract

The subject of the paper is Yuri Bykov’s latest film “The Fool”, seen as a metaphor of relations between contemporary Russians and as a diagnosis of the country with its political and social system. Home, which is the main subject motif in the film, is the structural basis of the plot. Other versions of the motif are a family home as either a source of moral values or the reason of their non-existence (the main character’s home and an anti-home in the workers’ hotel); and Russia as a native home and its care of the residents.
