Rzeczywistość alternatywna według Andrzeja Kijowskiego (Prelekcja autora w Centrum Dialogu oo. Pallotynów w Paryżu – luty 1984)

Abstract

In 1984 Andrzej Kijowski gave a lecture at the Paris Centre for Dialogue of Father Sadzik, reflecting on the condition of the Polish socio-political community in the context of what this community had experienced during the “Solidarity” period that ended up with the trauma of martial law, which only enhanced the value of the former experience. In Kijowski’s view, the diagnosis of an intellectual being for freedom of speech and inalienable values ever present in culture generally comes down to the dilemma, a genuine choice, that oscillates not between the decision to emigrate or stay in the country, not between going underground or acting out in the open, not between working in legitimate institutions or boycotting them. The true dilemma touches the very essence of the subject’s activity (particular understanding of politeia in the spirit of Personalism). It is a choice between staying alive as a complete, internally liberated human being or dying away.
