Abstract

The paper emphasizes an "anthropological" turn in the perception of "beauty" because the meaningful circumstance can be noticed, both in philosophy and in fine arts, or, as André Malraux writes: "eternity (begins) to withdraw from the world." Then acceptance or rejection establishes the criterion whether one, and their philosophical or artistic works, belong to "modernism" or "academism." Therefore, it is not nature that is beautiful, it is not God that is beautiful, and not the state, either, but, according to Nietzsche, "Nothing is beautiful, only man is beautiful." "Beauty" is: 1. An exclusive human sensory stimulus crucial (for survival), and 2. At the same time, it is our form of principle referred to the construction of the world as creation of the "second nature." Thus "beauty" is not the notion of a substance, but the notion of a function.
