Styl indywidualny a tożsamość: twórczość literacka śląskich polonistów

Abstract

The paper focuses on the literary works and their stylistic varieties of the three professors the Polish literature and language at the University of Silesia. We have selected Aunt Cila’s Tombstone by the late Stefan Szymutko, the book nominated in 2001 for the prestigious Nike literary award, Aleksander Nawarecki’s 2010 Lajerman, and Zbigniew Kadłubek’s Letters from Rome published in 2008. Having approached these texts, on the one hand, from a perspective of contemporary stylistics and discours theory (scholarly discourse, in particular) and, on the other hand, from a point of view of identity problems, since it is a category of the anthropologically conceived of identity which shapes features of individual styles of particular authors, we have managed to distinguish three kinds of individual styles: (1) style of existential identity (Szymutko’s Aunt Cila’s Tombstone), (2) style of Silesian‑cum-Eastern borderlands identity (Nawarecki’s Lajerman), and (3) style of Silesian identity (Kadłubek’s Letters from Rome)
