Tolerancja religijna Radziwiłłów birżańskich w XVI-XVII w.

Abstract

Artykuł dotyczy Radziwiłłów, książąt na Birżach i Dubinkach i ich relacji na gruncie religijnym z zaamieszkującą ich dobra szlachtą oraz z poddanymi chłopami. Autorka próbuje odpowiedzieć na pytanie -czy Radziwiłłowie birżańscy w jakimś stopniu stosowali przy rekrutacji klucz wyznaniowy? – na ile wyznanie szlachcica było czynnikiem determinującym otrzymanie przez niego intratnego urzędu w administracji dóbr, w jakim stopniu wpływało na wynagrodzenie czy pozycję w hierarchii sług radziwiłłowskich, na możliwość otrzymania korzystnej dzierżawy, wreszcie protekcję przy ubieganiu się o urzędy powiatowe czy centralne. Ponadto – na ile ów system był stabilny, a na ile zmieniał się w czasie?

The paper concerns the Radziwiłł family, Dukes of Biržai (Birże) and Dubingiai (Dubinki), and their relations with nobility and peasants occupying the Radziwiłłs’ lands, with special focus on the reli-gious ground of these relations. It is attempted by the author of the paper to answer the question of whether the Biržai-Dubingiai Radziwiłł family applied the criterion of candidate’s religion in the process of servants’ recruitment. Also, the author aims to determine whether and to what extent the faith of a noble was the factor influencing his ability to gain a lucrative position in the Radziwiłłs’ administration. In the paper the author also examines whether the faith of the noble determined the amount of his pay or his position in the hierarchy of servants. The noble’s ability to be granted the lease of estates or the protection of the Radziwiłł family when applying for higher-rank positions in local or central administration is also scrutinized in the paper in connection with the noble’s religious beliefs. Additionally, both the stability of such recruitment system and its changes on the time continuum are examined in the analysis by the author.
