Kobieta wobec polityki: strategie tożsamościowe w publicystyce tygodnika „Na Posterunku” (1917–1919)

Abstract

„Na Posterunku” [„On the Outpost”] was a women’s weekly paper published by the Women’s League of the Superior National Committee. It disseminated information on the social, economic, pedagogical and ethical issues, referring to interpretation conventions, which approached gender as a special value. Its journalistic writing fostered the presence of women in the political domain, as well as determined identity strategies flowing from the granting of a new social and legal status to women, both during and after the Great War. It shaped the dichotomic model of identity building which was connected, on the one hand, with the domestication strategy, and on the other hand, with the co-presence strategy. The former enabled women to explore the peculiarities of politics, while the latter promoted the search for one’s own ways towards auto-creation as part of the unity of gender, without the need to uphold traditional social roles (including those of a wife, a mother and a caretaker). The editorial panel of the paper contributed to the shaping of a vision of the women’s elite comprising social and economic activists who encouraged the public to fight for equal rights.
