„Pewien zakątek ziemi”. Geografia Czarnego potoku Leopolda Buczkowskiego – rekonesans

Abstract

The article presents the geographical realities of Leopold Buczkowski’s Czarny potok and the ways the author of the novel uses toponyms. Their analysis allows the claim that Buczkowski recounts not merely the destruction of Jewish community from the neighbourhood of Brody (in the novel, Szabasowa), but also the de-polonisation of south-eastern Borderlands by the Ukrainians in the beginning of the year 1944. The geographical realities of Czarny potok raise numerous doubts, but the plot of the novel is set between Brody, Huta Pieniacka and Podkamień, in which in March 1944 two of the writer’s brothers lost their lives at the hands the of Ukrainians.
