Kult Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego na łamach „Bluszczu” w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym

Abstract

In the years 1918–1939 the editors of the weekly “Bluszcz” cared to ensure that each issue of the magazine was full of calls for preservation of the independent statehood, that Poles focused their attention on the matters of state, society, economy, education, childcare etc. These goals were served by most of the published weekly content. Hence the reference to the glorious chapters of Polish history, exposing national heroes and admiration for Marshal Józef Pilsudski. Throughout the interwar period the Commander was regularly presented on the pages of the journal in different forms and on various occasions, such as events in which he participated or in other circumstances related to his person. He was credited for being an outstanding strategist, politician, brilliant commander, shown as a visionary, described as the “future Polish Napoleon” who “breathed life into the dead Polish nation.” The apogee of the interest in his person coincided with his death on the 12th of May 1935 and the following years till 1939.
