Abstract

Criminal stories are often considered as an easy genre to read and interpret. However, this issue is more complicated. As we have tried to prove in this article, these books contain a lot of different problems connected with modern times. Both “Crystal Trap” and “The Trep for Sponsor” show Russian reality in its details. Both authors claim that our week-day is dependent on the soviet past and, at the same time, look at the future searching for the idea which could connect the nation destroyed by communism. In this way novelists write about work and its value, about personal life and decision which we have to make every day. Moreover, commonplaceness is full of different feelings and emotions. That is way both writers describe the importance of love, friendship, affection… They emphasize the sense of our own choices and being independent in our lives.
