Феномен замещающей реальность симуляции в творчестве Мартина Эмиса

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of man in the second half of the 20th century as depicted in the works of M. Amis. The problem is stipulated by the phenomenon of simulation, which involves the replacement of the natural by the artificial, the impoverishment and standardization of thinking, the dispersion of identity and cultural integrity, the alienation from reality. The subject’s consciousness, repressed by simulations, is unable to tell the difference between fiction and reality, good and evil, which is one of the reasons for ethical disaster. The subject experiences discomfort from the distressing reality that he cannot adapt to and seeks refuge in comfortable simulations, which intensifies humanism crisis.
