Język, rozumienie, interpretacja. Kompetencje tłumacza w świetle filozofii hermeneutycznej Hansa-Georga Gadamera

Abstract

Głównym celem rozprawy jest udowodnienie tezy, że dyskurs hermeneutyczny, mimo częstego kwestionowania jego przydatności w translatologii, oferuje wgląd w istotne aspekty aktu tłumaczeniowego – w tym przede wszystkim w osobę kompetentnego tłumacza, stanowiącą niejako element centralny w refleksji hermeneutycznej nad szeroko pojętym przekładem – oraz że wykazuje przydatność w dydaktyce przekładu pisemnego. Z tak skonstruowaną tezą wiążą się dwa bardziej szczegółowe cele pracy. Pierwszym jest analiza i rekonstrukcja poglądów Gadamera na język, przekład, rozumienie i interpretację oraz znalezienie odpowiedzi na pytanie dotyczące tego, kim, według tego filozofa, jest kompetentny tłumacz, na czym polega jego twórcza działalność, wyjaśnienie, co decyduje o powodzeniu procesu tłumaczeniowego oraz jakiego charakteru są kompetencje tłumacza, jeśli analizuje się je z perspektywy hermeneutycznej. Drugim celem natomiast jest wykazanie przydatności Gadamerowskiej hermeneutyki we współczesnej dydaktyce przekładu, w szczególności udowodnienie wpływu hermeneutycznego modelu dydaktycznego autorstwa Radegundis Stolze na akwizycję kompetencji tłumaczeniowej u studentów lingwistyki stosowanej.

The main aim of the work is to prove the thesis that hermeneutic discourse – in spite of the fact that its usability is frequently questioned – offers insights into crucial aspects of the act of translation, mainly into a competent translator who, so to speak, is a central element in hermeneutic reflexions on translation, and that the discourse assumptions might be successfully used in translation teaching. In connection with the thesis, the author of the work sets two detailed goals. The first is to analyse and reconstruct Hans-Georg Gadamer’s views on language, translation, understanding, and interpretation, and to answer the question who, according to the philosopher, a competent translator is, what his/her creative activity consists in, what determines the success of translational process, and what translator’s competences are if they are analysed from the hermeneutic point of view. The second goal is to show the practical dimension of Gadamer’s hermeneutics in contemporary translation didactics, mainly to verify the influence of Radegundis Stolze’s hermeneutic model on the translation competence acquisition in applied linguistics students.
