Abstract

The article deals with the problem of ill children (chronically, terminally) on the example of the CCH in Białystok. The children are exposed to many nega¬tive experiences and stresses because of illness, they have a sense of threat, they experience a feeling of anxiety and helplessness that is why they need different forms of support. They receive the support from professional people who are qualified to do the job and who really care about children (Volunteers, among others from the Foundation “Dr Clown”) “Dr Clown” are therapists (employed full-time and volunteers) who promote a laughter and play therapy, relieve depression and restore the joy of life. They are perceived by ill children as cheerful and friendly people who perform a supportive and accompanying role (particularly in the life of terminally ill children) and give mainly emo¬tional, judging and spiritual support.
