Abstrakt: Accessible on a large scale facts evoke an impression of a tendency that young people of the contemporary world gain attributes of maturity on unprecedented scale, while adults acquire otherwise typically youthful characteristics. The phenomenon seems to be gaining importance if we are to rely on various innovations distributed by media around the globe. Can the phenomenon be traced and examined? This paper describes how much of an adult exists in a contemporary Polish teenager. On the other hand, how much of a child’s characteristics can be found in the personalities of adults in Poland. Five spheres of the human existence have been taken into consideration: from biological through psychological, sociological, cultural and to spiritual. Focusing his attention on population of pupils at postsecondary level in Poland, author attempts to examine, how much of a child is still inside those pupils, and what adult characteristics these pupils may already possess. With the same attention their teachers and parents were taken into consideration. Consequently, author attempted to point to traditionally repeated believes and truths about pupils and teachers, that by now can be put among the myths. In conclusion, author refers two questions for future once treated as an awful threat, but also as a challenge that needs to be met. Firstly, whether the future of the Polish education will unavoidably become a world of doddering adults and flamboyant in their maturity children? Secondly, what is possible to do in the field of education to civilize the mentioned phenomenon and its processes?
