Free will is one of the key issues in philosophy, psychology, and law, holding significant relevance for resocialization processes. This article analyses the significance of free will in the context of resocialization, highlighting its role in shaping individuals’ sense of agency and moral responsibility. Three main conceptions of free will are examined: libertarianism, compatibilism, and agent causation theory, along with their implications for the effectiveness of resocialization programs. Special attention is given to the psychological aspects of behavioral change, including the influence of autonomy and motivation on reducing the risk of recidivism. The article points to the need for an interdisciplinary approach to resocialization, integrating philosophy, psychology, and penitentiary practice. The conclusions emphasize the importance of strengthening the sense of agency and responsibility among individuals undergoing resocialization as a vital component of effective social reintegration.pl
