Podróż po inspirację. Casus modernistów szwedzkich pochodzenia żydowskiego

Abstract

In the article entitled: Travelling for inspiration. The case of Swedish modernists of Jewish origin presents how travelling in the second half of the 19th century (until the turn of the centuries) translated into artistic inspiration. The paper is based on the biographies and works of the following Swedish artists of Jewish origin: Ernst Abraham Josephson (1851–1906) and Oscar Ivar Levertin (1862-1906), with a digression to the works of Isaac Grünewald (1889–1946), third of the Jewish modernists of the North, who worked later than the two main figures described in the study, as far as the precise periodisation in the article is concerned. It proved that their frequent travels found a conceptual and creative reflection in the works of both artists: In the poetic and artistic works of Ernst Josephson and in the poetry of Oscar Levertin. Therefore, both authors match the model of a creative wandering artist and the concept of a qualitative journey of the fin-de-siecle.
