Jak wypromować Gabrielę Zapolską we Francji? Podejście instytucjonalne

Abstract

The author of this sketch considers concepts of promoting in France the work and persona of Gabriela Zapolska. She argues: the writer’s work is current and should be produced in European theatres. Zapolska failed to achieve significant success on French theatre stages, so maybe her plays can meet with posthumous success? Various actions are taken to make Zapolska known in France. The translating and research activity of Elżbieta Koślacz-Virol plays a significant role in this area. An important and currently interesting field of contemporary study into Zapolska’s work in France is provided by her journalist contributions. In her feuilletons, she frequently addressed the topic of women’s status in Paris in the late 19th century or people from disadvantaged social strata. These questions recur today, and interest is now growing in the status of women and social conditions in the 19th century. Hence, Zapolska as a journalist has become close to current issues, and time has come to give her work a wider circulation.
