Afektywne krajobrazy miejskie (i nie tylko) w twórczości Zyty Rudzkiej

Abstract

Drawing from the cultural, affective and sensory turns, broadly understood aesthetics, geopoetics and the cultural concept of landscape, the article analyses and interprets the sensual and affective landscapes of everyday life of the heroines and protagonists in Zyta Rudzka’s works. Of particular interest seem the landscapes textualized in the author’s last four novels: Ślicznotka doktora Josefa [Dr Josef’s pretty], Krótka wymiana ognia [A brief exchange of fire], Tkanki miękkie [Soft tissues] and Ten się śmieje, kto ma zęby [He who laughs has teeth]. In Rudzka’s novels, landscape appears as a living space and a way of experiencing the world. The themes that emerge are: geographical landscapes – of the countryside and the city, of memory, internal landscapes – of experience and of the senses. And while the landscape, in its classical understanding, should have a soothing effect, be a safe haven, the effect seems to be the opposite – the depicted image is disturbing, anti-aesthetic, decayed, and associated with ruin.
