Podróż bez końca. O doświadczeniu krajobrazu Marka Zagańczyka

Abstract

The considerations undertaken are aimed at reconstructing the experience of landscape on the basis of selected travel sketches by Marek Zagańczyk. This experience manifests itself as a constant establishment of the identity of the visited places and as well as a test of the traveler’s own sensuality, constantly stretched between different emotional states. Zagańczyk’s notes show that the landscape is born in experiences, sensations and individual feelings, and that experiencing it is simultaneously a deep immersion in oneself. In this perspective, the visual aspect of the landscape, which the author often emphasizes, is merely an introduction to multisensory and psychosomatic experiences, activating all the senses, memory, imagination and various associations, which, in turn, open up new artistic, biographical and personal contexts. As a result, the landscape becomes for Zagańczyk a source not only of broadly understood aesthetic experience, but also of existential one.
