Abstract

Names are present in the life of every society; it is hard to imagine everyday living without using names, surnames, nicknames or wide spectrum of geographic names like names of villages, towns, cities, seas, mountains, islands, parts of the world, counties, their regions, and many other. It is known, that problem of the place and role of names in education of certain society closely relates to problems of language and culture. The relation is because the names reflect the social, cultural and historical knowledge referring to the nation. Names contains the information about distinctive national and cultural character of the society. According to Author, students who have finished their studies have inefficient knowledge and awareness about the role of names for cultural or ethnic cultivation's. During the education there should be expressed the links and relations between names used in certain area and knowledge about the region. There should be the remembrance: names are not only the unrelated language formations, but they're also social facts reflecting in various ways history of societies they had been formed in. Awareness and acknowledge of names specific for certain region can, and should, be used in teaching both majority and minority languages.
