Budowanie pozycji rodu Krasińskich na sejmiku ciechanowskim w XVII w. (do 1668 r.)

Abstract

The text deals with the hitherto poorly recognized issue of building the position of the Krasiński family at the regional diet of Ciechanów from the beginning of the family’s career to the end of the reign of John II Casimir. The Krasiński family built their position on the basis of Franciszek, Bishop of Kraków (1525–1577), in alliance with the Dzierzgowski family. They were members of the regional diet of Ciechanów many times (Andrzej Krasiński 9 times), but they managed to achieve a more stable position there only in the 1730s, when Jan Kazimierz and Stanisław Krasiński were elected together many times. However, this was a short-lived state. It seems that dominance at the regional diet of Ciechanów was rather guaranteed by the function of a non-town starost, which the Krasińscy family did not achieve during the period considered. Nevertheless, thanks to other starosties, they dominated the Raciaś and Łomża regional diets. Thus, although their ancestral nest was in the Ciechanów land, they did not need the regional diet of Ciechanów to build the position of the family in the second half of the 17th century.
