Abstract

A Mather in a rural family in The Polish Second Republic was the first protector, tutor, patron of a child. The Mother took care of children and another member in the family, she helped them, she guaranteed positive atmosphere in home, took care of safety in a wide context. It was very significant that the mother applied common tradition, experiences in the process of socialization. I am describing the role of the mother in shaping social consciousness. I noticed what the cooperation between parents was like, specially mother and school, how mother took care of intellectual needs of children and other members of family. I have used in my research such sources as press, diaries, fiction in these described periods.
