Wartości patriotyczne w przekazie nauczycieli wybranych szkół podstawowych w Białymstoku

Abstract

The paper presents part of a reasearch project that was conducted in the second half of 2006 among teachers from selected elementary schools in Białystok. The survey-based study focused on the role of the teacher in communicating values and on the type of values that should, according to the respondents, be conveyed in the process of education. The obtained results indicate that the values most often communicated by the teachers are ethical ones, folIowed by values strongly rooted in Polish culture. Very few teachers mentioned patriotic values in the context of their own teaching. In the respondents' opinion, patriotic values were not perceived as the most important one s in the process of education. The analysis of the results clearly demonstrates that teachers more often define patriotic values as desirable than actually try to pass them on to their students.
