Odwlekanie prawa. O Muzie dalekich podróży Teodora Parnickiego

Abstract

The article analyses the influence of copyright on the structure of a literary tekst, in this case: Teodor Parnicki's The Muse of Distant Journeys [Muza dalekich podróży]. The author indicates a few levels (from the thematic layer, through the structure of the text, to subjective strategies) of influence on the shape of Parnicki's novel exorted by his contract with the publisher and the copyright obligations. Jakubowiak follows the strategic negotiations of the writer trying to maintain independence from the legal conditions which, in the end, enable his literary activity. He treats Jacques Derrida's analysis of Kafka's parabollic story Before the Law [Przed Prawem] as a specific point of reference in which the French philosopher finds crucial references to the notion of law not only on the thematic level but aIso on the structural and performative one. A single analytical example allows the author of this text to formulate hypotheses regarding the general relations between the law (especially the copyright law) and modern literature.
