Abstract

Even though plagiarism is commonly considered the most serious copyright infringement, it is rarely a subject of legal reflection. The notion of "plagiarism" is not often used in legal regulations and verdicts. The scope of its meaning results from the analysis of the legacy of the Polish doctrine and judicature's representatives. It seems surprising that, although plagiarism is colloquially most often associated with literary output, the majority of heretofore presented reflections is focused on scientific, musical or visual art works. This text focuses on the subject of plagiarism in literature and the definition of legal liability for appropriation of authorship in view of the current copyright system.
