Inedita związane z tematyką II wojny światowej i Zagłady. Dramat Bal Barbarzyńców (Faszyści) Alfreda Degala

Abstract

The article is dedicated to one of the categories of censors' practices in the People's Republic of Poland: complete suppression of texts. On the example of Alfred Oegal's play Ball of Barbarians (Fascists) [Bal Barbarzyńców (Faszyści)] discovered by Budrowska herself, the author describes methods and alleged reasons for such suppression. The play by the hardly known writer had never been published/staged. Submitted for review in the Ministry of Culture around 1951, it was probably negatively assessed and has remained in the archive for over 60 years. The article contains an attempt to reconstruct the circumstances in which the text was written, presentation of the author and description of the work itself - with regards to both the textual basis and the meanings of the original, moving play about the Holocaust.
