Od orderu do ,,zapisu ". Jak GUKPPiW oceniał pisarzy w latach 1952-1955?

Abstract

The article is based on the analysis of source materials from GUKPPiW (the Main OWce of Control of Press, Publications and Shows). The author, on the basis of the internal instruction letter of the office circulating from 1952 to 1955 'Bulletin of Information and Instructions' [Biuletyn Informacyjno-Instruktażowy], is presenting the binding criteria to characterise and evaluate individual authors and their writings. The general conclusion is that the main single factor in placing a writer high up in the censorship hierarchy was not the artistic merit of the work but the proper political orientation and the world-view that is the text-wise extrinsic factors. In her essay, the author suggests dividing writers into three groups, naming them after the terms typical of the censors' nomenclature: 1. model writers - 'no interference needed,' 2. controversial writers - 'to be amended, ' 3. writers 'to be suspended'. Nevertheless, the author does not dcscribe nor assess the true participatic) of individual writers in public life, only their image, paper "life", in the pages of the internal instruction letter of the censorship.
