Motyw samotności oraz osamotnienia w twórczości literackiej senegalskiej pisarki Ken Bugul

Abstract

Zjawisko samotności jest tematem przewodnim niniejszej pracy doktorskiej, a jej głównym celem naukowym jest ukazanie bohatera literackiego zmagającego się z samotnością na różnych etapach życia. W rozprawie koncentruję się na twórczości Ken Bugul, jednej z bardziej znanych francuskojęzycznych pisarek. Analizę opieram na jej sześciu utworach klasyfikowanych jako utwory autofikcyjne: Le Baobab fou, Cendres et braises, Riwan et le chemin de sable, De l’autrecôtéduregard, Mes hommes à moi, Cacophonie. K. Bugul ma wiele wspólnego z jej kobiecymi postaciami literackimi, chociażby dlatego, że życie i twórczość pisarki są ze sobą nierozerwalnie związane i te dwie sfery wzajemnie się przenikają i uzupełniają. Dlatego też w autofikcyjnych utworach można zauważyć powtarzające się motywy, które są inspirowane życiem autorki. Jednym z bardziej charakterystycznych wątków jej twórczości jest nieobecność matki we wczesnych latach dzieciństwa. Pisarka została porzucona przez rodzicielkę w wieku pięciu lat i to wydarzenie zdaje się być początkiem jej traum, o których pisze we wspomnianych powieściach.

The main theme of this dissertation is the phenomenon of loneliness in the autofiction of Ken Bugul, and its main research objective is to depict a literary hero/heroine struggling with loneliness at different stages of life. In the dissertation, I focus on the works of one of the renowned Francophone writers, Ken Bugul. I base my analysis on her six works classified as works of autofiction: Le Baobab fou, Cendres et braises, Riwanou le chemin de sable, De l’autrecôté du regard, Mes hommes à moi, and Cacophonie. Bugul has much in common with her female literary characters; the writer's life and work seem to be inextricably linked and the two spheres intermingle and complement each other. Therefore, the recurring motifs inspired by the author's life can be seen in her autofictional works. One of the predominant characteristic themes of her work is the absence of her mother in the early years of Bugul's childhood. At the age of five, the writer was abandoned by her maternal parent and this event seems to be the beginning of her traumas, which she writes about in the aforementioned novels.
