Лингвистические аспекты создания многоязычного терминологического словаря

Abstract

One of the tasks of modern applied linguistics is to research various specialised sub-Ianguages. "Linguistic Aspects of Creating a Multilingual Phrase Dictionary" concentrates on researching the processes of forming and development of the language of computer science in Russian and Polish. The author also analyses the process of creation of terminological dictionaries, concentrating on multilingual translation dictionaries. The subject of analysis is a rapidly developing fragment of Polish and Russian lexis - the sub-Ianguage of computer science. The subject of research is interesting because, contrary to sub-languages developed in the past, it is still at the stage of development and creation. An English-Polish-Russian computer dictionary published by the author was the source of lexical material for analysis. This work consists of an introduction, three chapters, a conclusion, bibliography and appendices. Chapter one presents the basic notions of terminology and terminography, especially those connected with the lexical characteristics of terminological dictionaries. Some of the subjects are ideas on the nature of a term, its place in the language system, its features, its connection with the word as a basic language unit, inconsistencies in normalisation. The chapter also presents the formation of the Russian and Polish sub-language of computer science through loanwords. The stages of this process were indicated, the factors influencing it were described and the loanword phenomenon was analysed. Chapter two describes the lexical parameters, which were taken into consideration during the development of the English-Polish-Russian dictionary of computer science, which was the source of sub-language units for analysis. Subject three analyses the process of creating sub-language terms, which form the computer science sub-language in Russian and Polish. The appendix contains tables presenting the results of the analysis of terminological word connections. Another appendix is the "English-Polish-Russian Pocket Dictionary of Computer Science" published by the author of this work. Together with the dictionary this work may in future be used to unify the terminology, for work with texts, for the creation of other terminological dictionaries, including automatic ones.
