Kanon literacki i jego przemiany w kontekście kształcenia studentów neofilologii

Abstract

It goes without saying that the problem ofliterarycanon is a highly debatable matter abounding with rich, social, political and educational consequences. Thus, in its first part the present paper attempts to address numerous ramifications resulting from mutually exclusive perspectives that are taken in academic discussions while attempting to define the nature and status of theliterary canon. The viewpoint stouched upon range from the most conservative and rigid ones, represented by T. S. Eliot and Harold Bloom, to the demystifying and revolutionary proposals put forward within the theoretical current commonly referred to as post-structuralism. The second part of the paper looks at practical consequences of the "contingent" canon in the context of survey courses in American literature taken by students at teacher training colleges.
