Second meritorical chapter concerns women’s role in Power and Authority in twelfth century Byzantium. It begins from the reign of Alexios I Comnenos and ends with the fall of Constantinople in 1204. This section collects information from primary sources, mostly about Women from Comnenos and Angelos dynasties and those who where connected with those families. Third chapter refers to Women from twelfth century Crusader States: Kingdom of Jerusalem, Principality of Antioch, County of Tripoli and County of Edessa. It begins from first Crusade and ends with the death of queen Isabella of Jerusalem and her fourth husband Amalric of Lusignan in 1205. Because of serious deficiency of sources there is no chance to establish anything certain about participation in power or authority of some countesses, duchess and even queens. That is why this sections doesn’t mention every Women who occupied one of the thrones of Jerusalem, Antioch, Tripoli or Edessa. Despite this there was enough material to compare it with Western Europe and Byzantium. Dissertations ends with conclusion, which is a comparative study of Women’s social roles in the Medieval West, Byzantium and Crusader States. Moreover it is an attempt to explain of the sources of differences and similarities in those roles and why they werevery important in one place and not so much in another.
