Abstract

An important factor contributing to the emergence of the sociolect of make‑up artists is globalization and more specifically the expanding circle of professionals. In the 21st century, the make‑up artist is one of the most fashionable professions, high in the ranking of the so‑called professions of the future. Despite this, the sociolect of make‑up artists has not yet been studied. The aim of the article is, on the one hand, to attempt to present the characteristics of the profession stereotypically treated as a synonym for a beautician. On the other hand, it includes a formal description of the sociolect of Polish make‑up artists. As far as a formal description goes, the sociolect of make‑up artists consists of loan words, neologisms, existing words acquiring new meanings, and phrasemes.
